Hello! My name is Misty Krebs!
I am a state at home mom of a very active and beautiful 2-year-old girl. I was very fortunate to have a wonderful husband who supported our family so I could stay home with Brooke for the first 16 months of her life and not work at all. Unfortunately, as life would have it, we soon became aware of the fact that we would never get ahead without me bringing in a paycheck of some kind.
In December of 2006 I made a decision that has proven to be the absolute best decision for our family. I decided to enroll in Career Step's Medical Transcription Program. The staff was incredible! They helped me get a scholarship and a student loan. I was able to start my schooling immediately. I finished the entire course in less than 6 months, and I even had my computer crash and need rebuilt right in the middle of my training!
It was amazing to be able to do my schooling whenever it worked for me! I did it during naptimes, or when my husband came home from work early, when I got up extra early or when I just plain couldn't sleep. It was so convenient and really I never would have finished if they hadn't made it so easy!
I graduated from Career Step with High Honors on June 29, 2007! Talk about a sense of accomplishment!
Within 2 weeks I got a job offer with Spheris and haven't looked back since!!
Spheris mailed me my computer (yes, they provide you with a company computer!) and I started work with them on July 31, 2007.
I started out working full time on a very flexible schedule. After a few months, we decided that it would be more beneficial to our family if I cut back on my hours a bit. Right now, I work approximately 19 hours a week.
Currently this is my daily schedule. You really will be impressed!!
10:00-----Get up.
10:15-1:30-----Play with Brooke, clean house, run errands, whatever I need to do for the day.
1:30-----Go to playgroup with several other 1, 2 and 3-year-olds and their mommies.
3:45-----Come home and lay Brooke down for her nap.
4:00-----Clock in for work.
6:00-----Clock out and play with Brooke some more while we fix dinner et cetera.
9:30-----Put Brooke to bed.
9:45-----Clock in to work.
12:00ish-----Clock out and take some time to read or do something relaxing before going to bed.
Does that sound doable??? What if I told you that prior to having a baby, I was a manager for a hardware store. I worked 40+ hours every single week. Right now I work 19 hours a week and bring home almost as much money now as I did working more than twice as many hours at the hardware store.
I am sure that you have heard of many stay at home gimmicks that are designed to just take your money and leave you hanging. This definitely is not one of those.
Career Step provided me with unbelievable training and they helped me find a job immediately! Since my first day at work, I have never once felt like my education was lacking in any way, shape, or form. The Career Step program is very, very thorough and it taught me absolutely everything I needed to know to be a highly successful Medical Transcriptionist.

Medical transcription is a career that pays very well. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It is truly a legitimate career that requires the skills that you can gain through the Career Step training course.
