Welcome to my personal Medical Transcription and Coding Site!

My name is Cynthia Dixon. I have worked in the healthcare field since 1997. I hold certificates in EKG Technology, and as a Hospital -Unit Coordinator. I have diplomas in Medical Transcription, and Medical Billing/Coding. I have experience as a medical Transcriptionist, and as a Hospital -Unit Coordinator. I currently work as a Medical Record Analyst, and part time as a Medical Transcriptionist. I thoroughly enjoy working in the non-clinical healthcare setting. I initially went to college to become a nurse, but after careful consideration, I decided on the clerical side of healthcare. And trust me, if you're not the hands-on type, nursing isn't the career for you!

There are a lot of clerical/non-clinical healthcare careers that future and recent graduates of high school and college are unaware of. These careers are very rewarding and require great skill. Some of these professions require 2 or 4 year degrees. One of the most exciting careers in the healthcare field is that of the Medical Coder. Their skills are in high demand!

Coders are needed nationwide. As a medical coder, you'll experience satisfying employment and great compensation. But, in order to become a part of this exciting career, you'll need the proper education and training, and that's where Career Step, LLC comes in.

As a former student of Career Step, the training I received in the Medical Transcriptionist program enabled me to become employed as a Medical Transcriptionist within months of completing the course. There is no greater feeling than waking up, having a cup of coffee with breakfast, and then walking over to the computer and starting the workday. And did I mention, I worked in my pajamas! I didn't have to worry about having a vast selection of work clothes, and I didn't have to be bothered with a daily commute. With gas prices like they are now, it would be more economical and extremely wise to become a medical coder or transcriber. The Career Step MT course contained a wealth of material and proper tools that greatly prepared me for a job as a medical Transcriptionist, and that is why I have faith in Career Step's programs. I completed a course over a year ago in Medical Billing/Coding from a different home study course, but after completing the course, I didn't feel as if I had obtained the necessary skills and knowledge base needed to work as a medical biller/coder. This training certainly didn't afford me with the amount of training needed to sit for certification exams. But, here's another great thing about Career Step, one can become certified as a medical coder in a year or less.

I am currently in the process of becoming a student once again with Career Step. I contemplated attending a local college for a 2 year degree program, but would rather spend a year learning the same material or possibly even more. My sister-in-law is presently a student of Career Step's in the medical coding program and I can attest to the vast amount of material in the course that will greatly prepare you for employment as a medical coder. I have gone over the course and scrutinized it and honestly believe it is the BEST! You may wonder why I chose a different course. I chose it based on the amount of the course, which was cheaper. Let me tell you this, you get what you pay for.

I am eager to start the course in medical coding with Career Step. I am more than certain when I complete this course, I will be well on my way to earning the salary that I deserve.
